Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to join our Safety, Security & Law Enforcement department. In this role, you will provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff across our Texas hospitals and clinics. Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, responding to emergencies, enforcing laws and hospital policies, conducting investigations, and collaborating with clinical teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, compassion, and accountability, and excels in a collaborative, inclusive setting. Prior law enforcement experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to community-focused service are essential.
Patrol hospital buildings, emergency departments, parking areas, and campus grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Respond promptly to calls for service, disturbances, alarms, and requests for assistance within Methodist Health System facilities.
Use de-escalation techniques and sound judgment to manage disruptive, combative, or emotionally distressed individuals.
Investigate crimes and security incidents on or near facility property, including taking statements and gathering basic evidence.
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident, arrest, and activity reports in accordance with departmental policies and legal standards.
Enforce applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies while respecting patient rights and privacy requirements.
Control access to secure or restricted areas such as emergency, behavioral health, pharmacy, and critical care units.
Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security systems, and respond appropriately to identified threats or alerts.
Support clinical teams during critical events, including behavioral health crises, trauma activations, and disaster responses.
Provide escorts for staff, patients, and visitors as needed to enhance safety and comfort on hospital property.
Conduct safety and security rounds, identifying and reporting environmental or security hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Collaborate closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders when external assistance or coordination is required.
Participate in ongoing training related to defensive tactics, de-escalation, emergency response, and healthcare security best practices.
Demonstrate professional, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication with patients, visitors, and staff.

Current or eligible Texas peace officer license or equivalent hospital police commission
Completion of an accredited police academy or law enforcement training program
Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain upon hire
Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or equivalent de-escalation training preferred
Prior law enforcement, military police, or healthcare security experience
Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Firearms qualification and ongoing weapons proficiency, if required by department policy
