Position Summary

This is a critical time for policing and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is at the forefront, working to engage communities and promote leading policing practices. The IACP is dedicated to enhancing the policing profession through new initiatives, advocacy, and member services that bring innovation, promising practices, and training to the field. The association is seeking individuals with the passion, energy, and commitment to dedicate their professional efforts towards moving the field of policing forward. The IACP is the world’s largest and most influential professional association for police leaders. With more than 30,000 members in over 160 countries, the IACP is a recognized global leader in policing.

IACP seeks to hire a several Project Coordinators to broadly support IACP efforts. The project coordinators selected may also support the below projects:

  • National Anti-Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Program for Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Forces. The overarching project goal is to increase the organizational capacity of more than 40 federally funded anti-human trafficking task forces and professionals in policing, prosecution, victim services, and related fields to better identify victims, provide services, and successfully investigate and prosecute cases at all levels.
  • Enhancing Police Response to Individuals with Mental Health Conditions or Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities.  The goal of these initiatives is to promote law enforcement and mental health collaborations around the country and provide training and technical assistance to communities to reduce injuries and deaths of missing individuals with dementia and developmental disabilities.
  • Elevate Blue: Essential Training for Law Enforcement (Two positions). Under the Elevate Blue initiative, the IACP will design, develop, and deliver a training suite on critical topics facing law enforcement. These comprehensive, evidence-based courses will be grounded in curriculum development theory, adult learning concepts, and best practices and will be available virtually or in person.
  • Integrity, Action, and Justice: Strengthening Law Enforcement Response to Domestic and Sexual Violence. This program supports gender-based violence training and technical assistance and develops resources to help law enforcement identify, respond to, and investigate intimate partner crimes.
  • Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) Program. BCJI encourages place-based crime prevention and community revitalization strategies, which reduce crime and build community-police collaboration. The BCJI Program, supporting grantee sites across the country, emphasizes a comprehensive approach that involves residents in identifying problems and implementing solutions that strengthen their communities.

Job Responsibilities

Working with IACP staff, project partners, and stakeholders, the Project Coordinator will:

  • Assist with organizing and tracking details for project-related meetings and events including budget expenditures, logistics, and programmatic information
  • Organize and track project details including progress reports and training and technical assistance information
  • Organize on-site training events and meetings, virtual meetings, webinars, and conference calls, providing input, direction, and support as needed
  • Assist with the development and revision of training, informational, and other project-related materials such as educational handouts, worksheets, evaluation forms, publications, videos, guidebooks, reports, webinars, workshop presentations, and fliers
  • Gather information, policies, research, and resources, and identify promising practices for responding to project-related issues
  • Assist with facilitating meetings and small group discussions with law enforcement, subject matter experts, and criminal justice partners
  • Create and support project outreach, marketing, and information dissemination including social media and web site postings
  • Maintain records in accordance with IACP and funding agency guidelines and create required event reports as needed
  • Maintain communication with project team including staff members, partners, funding agency, and subject matter experts and act as a liaison to external stakeholders
  • Assist with identification and development of grant solicitations and proposals
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Two years of job-related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other relevant business software
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Solid analytical skills to include ability to troubleshoot problems from multiple perspectives
  • Effective task prioritization and time management skills
  • Solid writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a non-profit organization, association, or criminal justice environment
  • Familiarity with and understanding of project-relevant issues and policing
  • Experience with, and ability to plan events and make logistical arrangements for individuals and groups

 Special Conditions and Work Environment

  • Travel will be required based on job responsibilities.
  • This is a grant funded position for which continuation funding will be sought
  • Work takes place primarily in an office environment
  • Light lifting, bending, and reaching may be required
