The La Porte County Prosecuting Attorney is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed within the geographic boundaries of La Porte County, Indiana. La Porte County has a population of approximately 110,000 and is located in northwest Indiana, bordered by Lake Michigan to the north, Lake County to the west and St. Joseph County to the east. The Prosecuting Attorney has offices in La Porte and Michigan City. The La Porte County Internet Crimes Against Children Unit is based in the newly constructed, $12,000,000.00 state-of-the-art Michigan City Police Department.
Michigan City sits on the shores of Lake Michigan and is located approximately an hour from Chicago and two and half hours from Indianapolis. The amenities of Michigan City and La Porte County, in general, include the beaches of Lake Michigan, a vast network of city and county parks, the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, the Uptown Arts District and the Blue Chip Casino Resort.
