Company Overview
Clatsop County Sheriff's Office is a full service Sheriff's Office in the northwest corner of Oregon. We operate a Criminal Division, Corrections Division, Parole and Probation Division and Animal Control Division. Located in Astoria Oregon we provide service to a county of just under 900 square miles and 37,000 full-time population. The Sheriff's Office is led by Sheriff Thomas J. Bergin who has been the elected Sheriff since January 2005.
The Criminal Division is compromised of 24 deputies, including 4 sergeants and 1 Chief Deputy. The Corrections Division is comprised of 26 deputies including 4 sergeants and one lieutenant. The Parole and Probation Division is comprised of 9 deputies including 1 sergeant and 1 lieutenant.
Company History
Unlike so many government agencies throughout the country the Clatsop County Sheriff's enjoys relatively stable funding due to the Rural Law Enforcement District which funds law enforcement services. We currently have a 60 bed jail and are remodeling a building for our Criminal, Support and Parole and Probation Divisions. For a small Sheriff's Office we offer many specialized positions such as drug detective, person crime detective, forest patrol deputy, marine patrol deputy, canine deputy, resident deputy and designated marksman team. In the Corrections Division we offer transport deputy, courtroom deputy and work crew deputy. As a full service Sheriff's Office we provide lateral movement throughout all divisions.
The Sheriff's Office leads the way by providing excellent training and equipment support such as in car tablets, body and vehicle cameras, all deputies are equipped with AR-15's, shotguns, shields, helmets, 40 mm less lethal, tasers, body cameras. The Sheriff's Office Criminal Division provides liaison deputies for the High Angle Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Team, Dive Team. The Sheriff's Office's training program includes in house trainers in defensive tactics/use of force, firearms, tasers, less lethal, emergency vehicle operations, first/aid cpr and confrontational simulations.
Benefits
We offer excellent pay and benefits to include entry level pay of $4,063/month and to step pay of $5,367/month for Criminal and Corrections Deputies. Parole and Probation Deputies receive entry pay of $4,309 to $5,775/month. Incentive pay is provided for higher level certifications through DPSST. Criminal Deputies receive a take home car.
