First to serve in 1760, the Cumberland County Sheriff''s Office serves an area of 853 square miles with a population of approximately 265,612 citizens with the city of Portland as the county seat. The office employs nearly 250 indivuals, and includes a K-9 unit, a dive team, a marine patrol, a reconstruction team, and an Honor Guard.
