Company Overview
Your career as a Dallas Police Officer begins with the extensive training you will receive at the Dallas Police Academy. During this 32 week training period, you will be taught subjects ranging from criminal law, report writing, criminal investigation principles, defensive tacticts, police vehicle operations and firearms training. While in the Academy, you will earn a full salary as a Trainee Police Officer($52,890.00). Upon completion of the Academy, you will be assigned to one of our seven patrol stations located throughout the city. During the next 24 weeks, you will apply what you have learned in the Academy alongside a Field Training Officer who will provide on-the-job training and daily evaluations.
Uniformed officers can be expected to perform a wide variety of duties from:
*Answering police calls
*Investigating crimes
*Handling traffic accidents
*Making arrests
*Quelling family disturbances
*Providing public service
*Testifying in court
*Directing traffic
*Foot patrols
*Assisting EMT, fire & rescue
