Company Overview

The International Association of Chiefs of Police is a not-for-profit organization of over 22,000 members in 100 countries. The association has as its mission to lead and support the efforts of police administrators around the world in advancing the science and art of police services; to enhance cooperation among all police administrators; to bring about the best possible recruitment and training of qualified persons into the police profession while adhering to the highest professional standards of conduct; and to provide quality products and services to the membership.

Company History

Since 1893, the International Association of Chiefs of Police has been serving the law enforcement community. Throughout the years, IACP has been launching historically acclaimed programs, conducting ground-breaking research, and providing exemplary programs and services to our membership across the globe.

Professionally recognized programs such as the FBI Identification Division and the Uniform Crime Records system can trace their origins back to the IACP. The IACP has been instrumental in forwarding breakthrough technologies and philosophies from the early years of our establishment to the present. From spearheading national use of fingerprint identification to partnering in a consortium on community policing to gathering top experts in criminal justice, the government, and education for summits on violence, homicide, and youth violence, the IACP has realized its responsibility to positively foster the goals of law enforcement.

Even with such an esteemed history, we continually initiate programs to address the needs of law enforcement professionals. Our members let us know that they consider the IACP to be a progressive organization, successfully advancing the law enforcement profession. Current areas of focus include responding to terrorism, homeland security, intelligence-led policing, police-based victim services, criminal justice information sharing, firearm trafficking interdiction, use of force, violence against women, cutting-edge technology, and technical assistance for smaller police agencies.

All these endeavors and programs help IACP realize our purpose: to improve law enforcement. Though we’re proud of our history, we continue to address the needs of today’s law enforcement professionals by initiating programs to help them meet their challenging responsibilities.
