The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that is dedicated to serving the more than 270,400 citizens in Lexington County, South Carolina.
The Sheriff’s Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency that is headquartered in the Town of Lexington, which is located in the metropolitan Columbia or “Midlands” region of South Carolina.
Lexington County is experiencing tremendous growth in its population due in large part to the high quality of life in the county. Lexington County is thriving because of its varied economy, excellent schools and abundant recreational opportunities. The men and women of the Sheriff’s Department work hard every day to try to ensure that the quality of the life in the county remains high.
In addition to providing law enforcement services in unincorporated areas, the Sheriff’s Department also is responsible for the operation and security of the 720-bed Lexington County Detention Center, which serves as the primary holding facility for all individuals who are arrested and jailed in Lexington County.
