Company History

The Riley County Police Department is a consolidated law enforcement agency. In 1974 the Riley County Sheriff's Office and Manhattan Police Department consolidated its services and became the Riley County Police Department. The agency became the first consoldated law enforcement agency in the State of Kansas.

The department achieved accreditation status through the Commission on Law on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA) in 1991 becoming the first accredited law enforcement agency in the State of Kansas.

10 paid holidays per year, hazardous duty and shif differential pay (job and shift specific), longevity pay (non-sworn personnel), education incentive pay (sworn personnel).

Retirement benefits are provided through the Kansas Police and Fire (sworn personnel) or Kansas Public Employee Retirement System (non-sworn personnel). The department also offers additional retirement options available through its 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.
