Thomasville Police Department
Company Overview
The CALEA accredited Thomasville Police Department is comprised of 77 members (67 sworn officers; 10 civilians 3 of which are part time). TPD is widely recognized for being community-oriented, innovative, diverse, and transparent.
It is comprised of two main sections, Support Services and Operations. All department divisions operate under one of the two sections.
The Support Services section contains the Administrative Services of the department. These services include Records, Municipal Court Operations, Crime Intelligence Analyst, the Training unit, the Property/Evidence Unit, and Information Technology.
The Operations section is comprised of the Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Special Operations Division.
Patrol Division:
Comprised of four teams, each of which consists of a Watch Commander, Assistant Watch Commander and six to seven patrol officers. The teams within the Patrol Division work 12 hour shifts and alternate between the day shift and night shift every four months. Some of the duties of the Patrol Division are: responding to calls for service, taking reports for crimes and accidents, traffic enforcement, directing traffic, and acting as escorts for businesses and funeral processions. Patrol officers investigate misdemeanor crimes within the city limits of Thomasville.
Criminal Investigations Division:
Investigates felony person-to-person and property crimes, narcotics and gang investigations, provides crime scene processing, and completes digital forensics investigations.
Special Operations Division:
Contains Community Relations, School Resource Officers, K9 unit, and Traffic Safety.
