Description
Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to join our Safety, Security & Law Enforcement department. In this role, you will provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff across our Texas hospitals and clinics. Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, responding to emergencies, enforcing laws and hospital policies, conducting investigations, and collaborating with clinical teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, compassion, and accountability, and excels in a collaborative, inclusive setting. Prior law enforcement experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to community-focused service are essential.Provide visible law enforcement presence on hospital and clinic campuses to ensure safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff
Conduct routine patrols of buildings, parking lots, and grounds to deter crime and identify safety or security hazards
Respond promptly to emergency calls, disturbances, and security alerts, taking appropriate law enforcement action according to policy and law
Investigate reports of theft, assault, vandalism, suspicious activity, and other incidents occurring on Methodist Health System property
Prepare clear and accurate incident, arrest, and supplemental reports, maintaining proper evidence handling procedures
Assist with emergency preparedness and response, including disaster events, active threats, elopements, and missing persons
Use verbal de-escalation, crisis intervention techniques, and minimal necessary force to safely manage aggressive or disruptive individuals
Support clinical teams with safe restraint and transport of combative or high-risk patients in accordance with hospital policies and legal standards
Enforce hospital policies, state criminal and traffic laws, and regulatory requirements on all system property
Monitor and control access to restricted and high-risk areas, verifying identification badges and supporting visitor management processes
Provide traffic and crowd control and escorts for patients, staff, or visitors when necessary
Participate in safety drills, security training, and workplace violence prevention initiatives
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other staff to proactively identify and mitigate security and safety risks
Maintain weapons proficiency and meet all physical, medical, and background requirements for commissioned officers
Coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies when incidents require external assistance or investigation
Patrol and incident response

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
Previous hospital or healthcare security experience preferred
