Description

The City of San Luis seeks a dedicated Police Officer for the Safety, Security & Law Enforcement Department. This sworn position protects life and property, enforces laws, responds to emergencies, conducts investigations, and builds strong community partnerships. Officers patrol assigned areas, prepare detailed reports, testify in court, and collaborate with regional agencies. Ideal candidates demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, physical fitness, and a commitment to community engagement and public service in a team‑oriented environment focused on safety and quality of life.
Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect crime
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
Conduct preliminary and follow-up criminal investigations
Prepare clear, accurate incident and arrest reports
Testify in court and administrative hearings as required
Engage with residents to build community partnerships and trust
Perform traffic enforcement and collision investigations
Provide first aid and basic life support until medical help arrives
Collaborate with other city departments and regional law enforcement agencies
Knowledge of criminal and traffic law
Report writing and documentation
Defensive tactics and officer safety
Firearms proficiency
Emergency vehicle operation
Radio and CAD (computer-aided dispatch) use
Evidence handling and crime scene basics
Crisis intervention and de-escalation
Basic first aid/CPR
Spanish-English bilingual communication (preferred)
